That lady at the park bench told me to stop feeding the robins bread crumbs
She said it messes up their digestion and now I feel terrible about the 3 weeks I spent tossing them my leftover bagels near the old oak tree in Central Park, has anyone else gotten schooled by a stranger about bird feeding?

oh man dont beat yourself up about it, most people dont know that about bread. i think crackers are even worse for them honestly, they swell up in their stomachs.

lol thats so funny you say that because i literally gave my dog a whole cracker once thinking it was fine and then spent the next hour panicking watching him bloat up like a balloon. i swear he looked at me like "why would you do this to me mom" 😂 now im the crazy person at parties who gets all serious when someone tries to sneak snacks to dogs, like "uh actually crackers are basically little bread bombs for their tummies." but honestly i bet my dog secretly thinks im a total killjoy, hes probably plotting his revenge with a stolen baguette somewhere.

Ha straight up! You guys are making me feel way better because I did the exact same thing. Threw stale croissants at some pigeons for like two months before some random guy in a tweed coat gave me a whole lecture about fermentation in their crops. @phoenixb34 is right though, crackers are worse. I watched my friend's golden retriever inhale a sleeve of saltines once and the poor thing looked like a furry beach ball for the rest of the day.
