That old guy at the park bench changed how I see crows
He told me crows remember faces and will bring you shiny things if you leave peanuts out, so I tried it for 3 months and now I have a little rock collection on my porch, has anyone else had a crow drop stuff off for them?

Not quite right about the shiny things part - crows actually bring you gifts but it's usually random stuff they find interesting, maybe a bottle cap or a weird twig. I mean, they do remember faces for sure, that part is real, but the idea they'll bring you a specific 'shiny' thing like a coin is more of a myth from social media. Lots of people who leave peanuts out end up with a pile of old keys and acorn caps instead. Also they might just be stashing your peanuts near your porch and the rocks are from them moving things around.

Wait, has anyone else gotten a random golf ball from one of them?
I was feeding this one crow near my backyard for like three months, peanuts every morning. One day I found a slightly chewed up pink eraser on my porch rail, right where I leave the food. Then a week later a little plastic dinosaur toy, head missing. Nothing shiny at all, just weird junk. I think they're just clearing out their nests or something and happen to drop it near where they eat. But I still take a picture every time, feels like a little treasure even if it's trash. Do you ever wonder if they're just messing with us on purpose?

Honestly, are you sure they're not messing with us on purpose? I think it's more like they're testing to see what we do with the stuff they bring. @the_christopher, your eraser and broken dinosaur sound like proof they're just cleaning out their area, but I don't think it's random. They know you're there every day with peanuts, so why not drop something weird to see if you react differently? Ngl, I've seen crows leave a half-smoked cigarette next to a full bowl of almonds I left out for them. It's like they're curious about what we'll do with their trash, not trying to give us treasures. I bet they're smart enough to know we always take pictures of the weird stuff, so they keep bringing it.
