That one Wednesday morning when a blue jay landed on my coffee mug and just stared at me
I was sitting on my porch around 6am with my cup of coffee not really paying attention. This blue jay came down and landed right on the rim of my mug. It just looked at me for a solid 10 seconds then flew off. I had been having this rough week where nothing was going right at work but that moment just kind of reset everything for me. Has anyone else had a bird do something totally unexpected that stuck with you?

Wait, are we really acting like birds are some kind of deep mystery now? I mean yeah they exist and do bird stuff but it's not like we just found out they're secretly running the world or something. People get so caught up in these little nature facts like it's a life changing revelation but it's really just birds being birds. I don't get why everyone acts so shocked every time someone points out something normal about them. It's like when people freak out that pigeons can recognize faces - cool I guess but it doesn't actually change anything about my day. Maybe I'm just a grump but this whole thing feels way overhyped for what it is.

Gotta correct something real quick - blue jays are actually more active at dawn and dusk, so 6am is prime time for them to be out doing their thing. That's probably why he was so bold about landing on your mug, they're pretty smart and curious birds. Really cool that it gave you that reset moment though, sometimes the universe sends little signs like that.
