Appreciation post: My foreman in Tacoma insisted we map every circuit with a toner instead of just guessing, and after a 3-hour troubleshooting job last week, I finally get it.
We spent 20 minutes with the toner to find the right breaker for a mystery outlet, versus the two hours we wasted the month before just flipping switches and hoping, so what's your best time-saving trick for panel work?

My old boss in Spokane made us label every single wire at both ends with masking tape before pulling it. Sounds like a pain, but last month I watched a new guy trace a mislabeled neutral for half a day. We found it in ten minutes because of those little flags. Now I keep a roll of tape in my bag no matter what.

Oh man, that toner story hits home. I watched a guy once spend a whole afternoon flipping breakers for a single outside light, getting madder by the minute. He finally borrowed a toner and had it in five minutes. My trick? I just write on the panel door with a sharpie as I figure stuff out. Circuit 14 is "kitchen left plug," not some mystery code. Why make the next guy suffer, right?
