Can we talk about that one day where every job went wrong?

Last Friday in Tacoma, I had three callbacks in a row for flickering lights I'd just fixed. The third house had a neutral issue in the panel I somehow missed the first time. Has anyone else had a day where simple problems just kept hiding?

Last Tuesday felt like that, just a parade of simple fixes coming back. I started double checking my meter at the panel and at the problem outlet before I left each job. It added five minutes but saved me a second trip, you know? Sometimes your brain just skips a step when the work looks too easy.

Yeah, the "double checking at the panel and the outlet" is smart, but you gotta check the meter at the load too. I've seen voltage read fine at an open outlet, but it drops under a real load because of a loose neutral somewhere upstream. Toss a space heater or a hair dryer on it for a minute before you pack up.

Ever notice how this happens with everything, not just wiring? Like when you're cooking and you skip tasting the sauce because the recipe looks foolproof, then dinner's ruined. That extra five minutes of checking feels dumb in the moment but saves so much hassle later. It's like our brains are wired to cut corners on the easy stuff, and it always bites us.
