Got called out for my 'artistic' wire bundling on a job in Tempe
I was finishing a panel upgrade at a small office building, and my helper said my wire bundles looked like a bird's nest. He pointed out that my loops were too tight and crossing over each other, which could cause heat issues later. The next day, I started using a proper cable comb and taking an extra five minutes to straighten everything before tying it off. Has anyone else had a helper give them a reality check on something basic like that?

Oh man, that's a good helper right there. I mean, did it kind of sting in the moment to get called out? But honestly, how do you even get into the habit of making tight loops like that, was it just a speed thing you never thought about?

Sting? More like a full-on BEES NEST situation. Honestly the loops just happened, like a weird coding tick. Probably from trying to finish before my coffee got cold.

Getting called out always stings a bit, but it's how you learn. For me, those tight loops came from copying old C code patterns without questioning them. You just get used to writing things a certain way and never stop to ask if it's actually good.
