Just hit 2,000 panel terminations this year in Phoenix
I keep a tally in my truck and finally passed 2,000 solar panel terminations for this year on a commercial roof job last Tuesday. I didn't think I'd hit that number until December, but we've been slammed with new builds since the summer heat broke. Any other solar guys keeping track of your termination count for the year?

A buddy of mine bragged about hitting 1,800 terminations last year, then found out half his array had loose connections when a storm rolled through. Guess who's been using a torque wrench ever since?

Those SunPower MC4s on that job? The ones with the little plastic locking tabs that break off if you look at them wrong. I stopped tracking my termination count after 1,500 last year. Too many callbacks from bad crimps. The real question is how many of your 2,000 terminations did you actually test with a pull test gauge before you buttoned up the array. I bet it's under 50 percent. That's the number that keeps me up at night. Not the count. The failures you don't know about yet.
