Just wasted $200 on a fancy wire stripper I'll never use
Bought that Knipex auto-adjusting stripper everyone raves about. Tried it on a 12-gauge Romex run in a remodel here in Portland. Kept nicking the insulation and I hate how it feels in my hand. Went back to my old yellow handled Ideal strippers that cost $12. Anyone else blow money on a tool that just sits in the drawer?

Did you try adjusting the tension or just toss it?

My dad had a similar thing with his old Craftsman socket set - refused to upgrade for 30 years because it just worked. @val_williams you hit it exactly, sometimes the hype around a tool is just noise when your hands know what they like. It's like how people always say the newest phone is a must-have but half the features nobody even uses.

Oh man, I feel your pain on this one. Did you ever just look at a tool and know it's gonna be a regret the second you pick it up? Those Knipex strippers are hyped up so hard but they just don't work the same for everyone. I had a similar thing with some fancy ratcheting crimpers that were supposed to be the best thing ever but they just felt clumsy and heavy in my hand. Sometimes the cheap old stuff just fits right and that's all that matters.
