PSA: Checked out a new supply house in Phoenix and saw they were selling counterfeit GFCI outlets

I stopped by Apex Electric Supply on McDowell Road yesterday (first time there). There was a whole display of those white GFCI outlets for $8.99 each, way too cheap. I grabbed one and popped it open behind the counter, and the internal board had no branding or UL mark at all. The guy working there got real quiet when I pointed it out. Has anyone else run into fake outlets showing up at local suppliers lately?

I used to figure fake electrical stuff was just some online scam you'd never see in person. But hearing about a legit supply house carrying those unmarked boards changes things for me.

A real supply house would sell those?

Same thing happened to me last month at a local spot I've been going to for years. Walked in for some breakers and saw a whole bin of those no name relay boards sitting right on the counter. Guy behind the counter said they just come from a new distributor they started using. Couldn't believe it, thought that stuff was only on shady websites or Amazon. Makes you wonder how much of that junk is floating around in places you'd normally trust. Crazy times we're living in honestly.
