Rant: I had to choose between running conduit in the attic or under the crawlspace for a kitchen remodel in Phoenix last week.

I went with the crawlspace because the attic was hitting 130 degrees, and honestly, it was a lot easier to pull wire through the cooler space, but has anyone else had to make a call like that in extreme heat?

That heat can actually degrade the wire insulation over time, not just make the job miserable. The crawlspace was definitely the smarter play for the long run.

It's wild how often people skip the hard but right way for the easy but wrong one. You see it with everything from home projects to just taking care of your stuff. Saving a little time or effort now almost always costs you way more later. Makes you wonder why our brains are so bad at seeing that trade-off.

Man, you're spot on. A buddy of mine ran wire through his hot attic a few years back. Fast forward to last summer, and he had a short that fried a whole circuit. The electrician pulled out a section that was totally brittle, like @nancy817 said. Cost him way more to fix than if he'd just done it right the first time. That crawlspace idea sounds miserable to work in, but man is it the better call.
