Spent 3 hours troubleshooting a phantom flicker on dimmers
Turns out it was just a loose neutral on a can light I installed 4 months ago. Cost me a Saturday afternoon and $40 in replacement dimmers I didn't need. Anyone else waste a whole day on something this dumb?

Used to be the guy who would just swap parts without really checking first. Replaced three switches in my own kitchen over a loose wire, finally gave up and called an electrician buddy who found it in five minutes. Felt like an idiot but learned to always check connections first before buying anything new. Saves me a lot of returns now.

Oh man, I learned this the HARD way with my bathroom fan. Spent like 80 bucks on a new unit and it still didn't work. Turns out the old switch was just barely making contact, had to tighten the screw a quarter turn. Now I always check the simplest stuff first before buying ANY new parts.

$80 on a fan though, that's still cheaper than my kitchen switch saga.
