Can we talk about desoldering wick width? I wasted so much time

I was using 2mm wick for everything for like 3 years straight. Finally tried 1.5mm on a tight IC pin last Tuesday and it sucked up the solder in one go instead of me holding the iron there for 10 seconds. Felt so dumb but hey, learned something new. Anyone else have a 'why didn't I try this earlier' moment with a specific tool size?

@olivia398 nailed it. 1.5mm changed my life too, smaller wick just works better for fine pins.

Lol 2mm wick is basically a shovel at that point.

You ever watch a buddy spend 20 minutes fighting a through-hole cap with 3mm wick and a cold iron? My friend Mike did that at a repair meetup and someone handed him some 1.5mm and he just stared at it like it was magic. He told me later he went home and threw out his entire old wick stash.
