Chat with an old TV repair guy changed my whole approach
Met a retired fixer at a cafe who told me he never bothered with schematics, just traced the power line first every time. He fixed a 1960s Zenith from just the hum sound alone. Anyone else run into a senior tech who made you question your methods?

Nah, schematics exist for a reason.

My uncle tried to build a birdhouse without the schematic once and ended up with something that looked more like a weird mailbox. The birds refused to go near it for like two years lol.

Did he at least put the thing in a tree or just plop it on the ground and hope for the best? I feel like birds have higher standards than that, they want a solid roof and a proper entrance hole. Leaving it on a post in the yard is basically asking for squirrels to move in instead. Two years is a long time to hold a grudge against a weird mailbox birdhouse though. Maybe if he painted it to look less like a rejected USPS prototype they would have given it a chance.
