Debate: power supply caps - recap everything or just the bad ones?
I had a Toshiba CRT TV come in last week with vertical lines on the screen. I replaced the main filter cap and it fixed it in about 20 minutes. But I stopped there because the rest tested fine. Three days later the client's back with a new problem - another cap leaked and killed the horizontal driver. Now I'm wondering if I should have recapped the whole power supply while I had it open even though it took way longer. What's your rule on this? Do you shotgun the whole board or just fix what's broken and wait for the next failure?

Yeah, "craig.mila" nailed it, that's the same reason I patch a tiny leak in copper instead of repiping the whole house.

Are you really sure that's the right take? I get why it feels that way, but I've seen it play out different enough times.
