My friend Sarah spent two years trying to fix her old car's weird engine rattle. She replaced the timing belt, the spark plugs, the whole exhaust system. The mechanic finally told her the sound was just a loose heat shield clip, cost ten bucks to tighten. She'd been fixing a problem that wasn't really there.
