My amplifier's silent output showed a gap in repair guides
They jump to complex fixes and ignore the simple stuff that usually works.

Did you actually check the power cable and input connections first? I've lost count of how many times a loose RCA plug or a switched-off power strip was the whole problem. Those guides probably assume you already did the basic stuff, but they really should say it.

Oh, this reminds me of when my old CD player kept skipping. I spent a weekend taking it apart, following online guides for laser alignment. Finally, my kid pointed out a biscuit crumb stuck in the tray. Felt a bit daft after that.

Yeah, that bit about the guides assuming you did the basic stuff is so true. I used to get annoyed by it and skip right to the complicated steps, thinking the simple checks were a waste of time. But after I spent three hours trying to fix a hissing speaker only to find the volume knob on the back was just dusty, it totally changed how I do things. Now I always start with the dumbest, most obvious stuff first, like checking every cable is pushed in all the way. It saves so much headache.
