My bench power supply gave up mid-repair yesterday
Was working on a vintage radio, needed a steady 12 volts. The display just went blank. Had to grab my old analog meter to finish the job. Anyone know a good fix for a Rigol DP832 that won't power on?

My old HP 6236B supply did the same thing last year. I mean, the magic smoke just left the main transformer. I had to replace a toasted bridge rectifier and two caps before it would even hum.

Ever have one of those days where your gear just quits on you? I was testing a ceiling fan motor last week and my clamp meter died mid-check. Had to dig out this old analog thing from my dad's toolbox that I swear weighs five pounds. At least @taylorc40's switch fix sounds simple. My money's on a bad internal fuse or a loose connection on the main board, those can just vibrate loose over time.

My Rigol DP831 did that exact thing last year... just a dead screen. It turned out to be a bad power switch, of all the dumb stuff. I had to open it up and jump the contacts to be sure. Sounds like @king.robin had the full fireworks show with his supply, at least mine was quiet. These modern supplies feel less repairable than the old boat anchors sometimes. I'd check the internal fuse and that switch first before digging deeper.
