Took me 2 years to figure out I was using the wrong flux
I've been soldering boards for a while now and kept getting cold joints no matter what I did. Finally a guy at a repair shop in Austin looked at my work and asked why I was using acid flux on circuit boards. I didn't even know there was a difference between that and rosin flux. Has anyone else made this dumb mistake or am I the only one?

Are you sure it wasn't just a bad batch of flux? I've used the same kind for years without issues.

Trust me, I checked the batch number and everything. Same manufacturer, same supplier, same everything I always use. This was different though, it went from working fine to complete garbage in about two weeks. I had to redo three joints that looked perfect at first but then turned all crusty and brittle. Never seen that happen before with any flux, bad batch or not.

Wait, @amy974, have you ever had a bad batch work fine at first then fail later?
