Unpopular opinion: Packing a universal adapter isn't enough for overseas repair jobs...

I learned this the hard way last month in Tokyo... My usual kit failed because I didn't account for the different socket types and safety standards. Now I always look up local specs ahead of time.

Honestly, I read a blog post where a guy fried his drill because the adapter didn't handle the voltage difference. It's not just the plug shape, the power itself can wreck your gear. That Tokyo story totally checks out.

Tell me about it... I got caught out in South Africa with that same assumption. My solution was to find those little regional outlet guides online and print them now. It seems obvious, but having a physical checklist saved me last trip.
