Was reading an old repair manual from the 80s and saw a CRT TV schematic that needed a 25,000 volt power supply... that's just wild to think about now.

Actually, that's the anode voltage for the picture tube itself. The main power supply in the set was way lower, like 120 volts for the tube heaters and lower DC for the circuits. That 25kV was generated by a separate flyback transformer inside the TV.

Didn't vera514 just explain how the high voltage was separate? I read that old flyback transformers could be pretty dangerous to mess with. Makes sense why they always warned you about opening the back.
