Blew $200 on a 'magic' hoist cable lubricant

Saw an ad for this high-tech dry film lubricant for hoist cables. Promised zero dust buildup and longer rope life. Two weeks later my cables are gummed up with this weird sticky residue and the building manager is yelling at me about noise. Anyone else fall for a snake oil product like that?

Give the manager a break, it's just a little noise. Hoist cables make noise sometimes, it's not the end of the world. You probably just didn't apply it right or got a bad batch. I've used snake oil products before and half the time the problem is user error, not the product. Sounds like you're overthinking this whole thing.

Yeah no kidding lol. Honestly I used to be one of those people who thought snake oil was just fine and people were being dramatic. But after trying it myself a few times and dealing with the same kinda nonsense, I totally changed my mind. It's not just user error like some folks say, the quality control is straight up bad. I had a batch that was super inconsistent and it made everything worse. Now I steer clear of that brand completely, it's just not worth the headache.
