Hit 50 years in this trade last month and it still feels weird seeing guys use tablets for troubleshooting.
Back in the day we had a multimeter and a hunch, now these young mechanics pull up wiring diagrams on a screen mid-call and I swear they fix things twice as fast as I ever could has anyone else noticed how much the job changed since the 70s?

Double down on what @the_grace said about gut feelings not being all that. Found out the hard way that my "hunches" about engine knocks were just me remembering one specific old Ford from 1985, not actual diagnostic skill.

Damn, tablets beat my old gut feeling every time.

Honestly, that "gut feeling" thing is tricky. I read this article that said our brains are basically running on outdated software from like a million years ago, so instincts can be totally wrong for modern stuff like stock markets. Saw this study where people who used tablets for trading did way better than the gut-feeling crowd over a year, @patricia558. It's wild how much data can override what feels right in the moment.
