I don't buy the hype on those automatic rope tensioners for freight elevators

I was on a job at a warehouse in Cleveland last fall and the lead mechanic swore by them. Said they cut his callbacks in half. But after three months of using one on their main freight car, I had to go back and adjust it twice because it kept overcompensating for normal wear. My old manual method with a torque wrench and a buddy spotting me took longer but gave me way fewer headaches. That concrete experience made me realize I trust my hands more than a sensor. Has anyone else seen those things drift off spec after a few weeks?

Oh man @emma_dixon70 you hit the nail on the head. Drift is the worst, once it starts it just gets worse over time and you're stuck fighting the controller the whole time. Makes you wonder if these companies even test them before selling.

Are you kidding @emma_dixon70? I've never had drift on any controller.
