Just realized how important a good landing zone is after a shaft job in a 1920s building downtown

Honestly I had the same wakeup call last year in a 1920s building where the landing was barely 30 inches deep and I nearly ate it coming down from a shaft job. Ngl a good landing zone makes all the difference between a clean save and a trip to the hardware store for new parts.

Oh man, I gotta respectfully disagree here. A good landing zone matters way more for safety than people give it credit for, especially in those old buildings with inconsistent floor heights.

Hey @martinez.kim, do you mean full stair landings or just those tiny half steps at the top? In older places I've seen a lot of those landings actually make things worse because people trip on the transition between different floor heights. A properly sized landing is great, but half the time in old buildings they're barely wide enough to turn around, let alone catch yourself. Have you worked with any specific code minimums for landing depth in those situations?
