You're absolutely right about this shift. My grandma still writes paper checks and balances her checkbook by hand, while I can't remember the last time I used anything but an app. We're losing basic skills like simple repairs because everything is automated or outsourced. It's convenient until something breaks and you have no idea how to fix it. Our dependency on tech is making us pretty useless in practical situations.

Look at it this way. Tech automates the boring stuff so we can focus on what matters. If my sink leaks, I find a tutorial in seconds. That's being resourceful, not helpless. Our grandparents had to know how to balance checkbooks because they had to. We have apps that do it for us, so we learn other things. It's progress, not a step back.

Actually had my bathroom faucet start dripping last month and nearly called a plumber. Ended up watching a really clear YouTube tutorial, bought a five dollar washer from the hardware store, and fixed it in twenty minutes. Felt weirdly satisfying to do it myself, even with the digital help. It's like the tech gives you the confidence to try the hands-on part.
