The week I had to replace every single roller guide on a 12-story traction job

The building manager in Charlotte insisted we keep the car running during the day, so we were working nights in a 90-degree machine room. Ever try to get a stubborn top guide out at 3 AM? What's your worst 'keep it running' nightmare job?

Remember when I thought that was smart?

My old foreman in Tampa had the same rule, and it just shows how much gets sacrificed for a little convenience.

Learned that the hard way on a job last year.

Exactly. lily70 gets it now. That rule cuts corners for speed. Ends up costing more later. People forget the real work behind quick fixes. Short term gain, long term pain.
