Had a client peel off a layer of skin after a chemical peel I did 2 weeks ago...
She came back in today saying her face was burning and I saw actual rawness where the peel had lifted too deep. Has anyone else dealt with over-peeling and how do you handle the aftermath without losing the client?

Used to think chemical peels were pretty safe across the board, but seeing actual raw skin like that would change my mind fast. That's not just a mistake, that's a real problem where the solution probably needs medical input before cosmetology. I'd be upfront with her about what happened and offer a full refund plus some serious barrier repair products on your dime. Keeping her trust matters more than the money, and if you handle it right she might still refer people who want cautious work.

Yeah I gotta push back on the "medical input before cosmetology" part. You're making it sound like estheticians can't handle this stuff at all. I've seen plenty of bad reactions get fixed just fine with good home care and maybe a quick call to a derm. Not every mishap needs a full blown ER visit. A deep peel that goes wrong? Sure, send her to a doctor. But this sounds more like a bad burn from someone using too strong a percentage. A good esthetician can manage that with proper wound care and gentle products. You're jumping to conclusions calling it a real problem that needs medical input right away.
