Had a client tell me my lash mapping was too symmetrical and she was right

I used to map every set of lashes with the same balanced cat eye shape. One client with deep set eyes sat me down and pointed out how I was making her eyes look closer together. She showed me a photo of a previous set from another esthetician that had more lift in the center. I tweaked my mapping to add more length in the middle and it opened up her whole face. Now I actually look at eye placement before I even touch the tape. Has anyone else had a client totally school them on their own technique?

Clients see stuff we miss because we're stuck in our own patterns.

Deep set eyes are a whole different ballgame. Did you find you had to change your tape placement too, not just the lash lengths?

My barber did the same thing to me last year. I kept asking for the same fade every time and one day he just stopped mid cut and said "dude your head is actually shaped different on the left side." He showed me in the mirror and I felt like an idiot for never noticing. Now I look at haircuts totally different, same as you with lashes. It's wild how we get locked into a routine and stop actually looking at the person in front of us. That client probably saved you from doing copy paste work on every face for years.
