Had a Monday where THREE clients all canceled within 2 hours of their appointments last week

I sat in my empty room for almost 4 hours straight with nothing to do but re-sanitize my tools twice. Has anyone else had a day that bad and found a way to fill those gaps without just scrolling your phone?

Drove 45 minutes to a house once. Knocked on the door. Nobody home. Waited 20 minutes. Got a text saying they forgot. Just sat in my van eating gas station beef jerky.

Oh man, honestly I feel this in my soul. That exact thing happened to me last month and I started keeping a small ziplock bag with little organizational projects - like pre-cutting wax strips or organizing my color swatches by shade. Ngl it's saved my sanity because even 10 minutes of that feels way more useful than watching Instagram reels for an hour. Plus having those tasks done makes the next full day run smoother so you're not scrambling later. Tbh the key is just having something tactile to do with your hands that still feels work related.

Have you tried keeping a little list of non-client tasks that take between 5 and 30 minutes? I print out labels or update my booking system ahead of time so I actually feel productive even when the room is empty. Makes those dead hours feel way less wasted even if it's not full price work.
