I finally had a weekend where every facial client rebooked

Last Saturday was something else. I had four facials back to back and every single person booked their next appointment before leaving the room. One lady even said 'I've been to three estheticians this year and you're the first one who actually listened to what I wanted.' That comment alone made my whole week. I've been in the game about 18 months now and this was the first time I felt like my extractions and product recommendations were really clicking. Has anyone else had a day where everything just lined up like that?

Oh man, I used to think that whole "finding your groove" thing was just something people said to make you feel better on bad days. But I had a moment last month with my own work that totally flipped my view on it. I always figured if you just learned the skills right and followed the steps, every day would be the same. But this one Saturday everything came together and I was like oh wait this is what they meant. It's almost spooky how you can be doing the same stuff you always do but suddenly it just works better. Like your brain finally stops overthinking and your hands just know what to do without you telling them. So yeah I get what you're saying now, it's a real thing when it happens.

Has it really been 18 months already? I swear the first year just feels like you're faking it till you make it, and then one day it clicks. My sister is a tattoo artist and she described the same thing to me recently. She said one day she was working on a sleeve and suddenly her hand just knew where the lines should go without her second guessing every single move. It's wild how your brain can be the thing holding you back and then one day it just shuts up and lets you work. Your regulars coming back is the real win though, thats how you know you're not just lucky.

That thing you said about your hands just knowing what to do without you telling them, that hit hard. I had a similar moment a few months back where I stopped second guessing every move during extractions and suddenly my clients started booking way more often. For me, what really turned things around was when I stopped treating each face like a checklist and started paying attention to how their skin actually felt under my fingers. I used to get so caught up in following the exact steps from my training that I wasn't really feeling the texture or noticing how they reacted to different pressures. Once I let myself just work with what I was sensing instead of what the textbook said, everything started clicking way faster. It's like your brain finally trusts your hands enough to get out of the way.

My cousin who runs a food truck told me something similar last week. He said some days the line just flows perfect and other days every order gets screwed up. I think that's just how it goes when you're doing something that depends on reading people. You get in a rhythm where you're not even thinking about it anymore, you just know what they need before they say it. Sounds like you found that groove and that's a good feeling when it happens.
