I just had a client in Austin show up with a chemical burn from a DIY peel kit she bought online last month.

She said the kit promised 'professional results' but the instructions were vague, and now her skin is so compromised I can't even do a basic facial for at least 6 weeks, so please warn your clients about those sketchy online kits, has anyone else had to deal with fixing this kind of damage?

Has anyone checked if these kits are being resold from expired salon stock? I saw a forum thread where a former warehouse worker said some companies buy old professional peels, repackage them, and sell them online. The chemicals degrade and get unstable, so even if you follow the steps right, the burn risk is way higher. That might explain why the instructions are always so bad too, they're not the original ones. Makes the whole thing even scarier.

Yeah @hannah_perry, that reminds me of a friend who got a weird rash from a "new" kit she bought online.

Scarier"? Doubt it's that big a deal.
