Showerthought: I saw a really cool skin-focused menu at a cafe in Portland last weekend.

They had a whole section of drinks with ingredients like collagen and hyaluronic acid, which made me think about how much clients care about what they put in their bodies, not just on their skin.

Collagen peptides are actually absorbed differently than other proteins, @carr.lee.

Is drinking collagen in your coffee really going to do anything? It feels like a marketing trick to make people pay more for a latte. Our bodies break down and use protein in their own way, they don't just send it straight to our face. I get that people want to feel like they're doing something good for themselves, but maybe just eating decent food and using a normal moisturizer is enough. Sometimes the beauty industry makes everything way more complicated than it needs to be.

Honestly, @carr.lee, you're probably right about it being mostly marketing. I mean, our bodies just process it like any other protein, so it's not a magic skin potion. It just feels like another thing we're told to buy to fix a problem that isn't really there.
