Appreciation post for that moment at the truck stop in Flagstaff that changed my whole take on road snacks
I was picking up supplies for a move near Flagstaff last month and stopped at a Love's around 4pm. Usually I grab a bag of chips and a soda, but the cooler was totally out of everything cold except some plain yogurt tubes. On one hand I was annoyed, but on the other I grabbed one out of pure desperation and it honestly kept me going for almost 3 hours without that heavy sluggish feeling. The debate for me is whether convenience stores should lean harder into healthier options or if we're all just lying to ourselves about actually wanting them. Has anyone else had that weird moment where a forced bad choice turned out better than your usual routine?

@milaw14 nailed it with the autopilot thing. Yogurt tubes are low-key the secret weapon for road trips.

The real move here is that yogurt tubes are basically shelf-stable in a way most dairy isn't, so stores could stock em more without worrying about spoilage. The bigger picture people miss is that road snacks are a trap because your brain associates driving with junk food rewards. Once you get off the sugar-crash rollercoaster, your body actually starts telling you what it needs instead of what it craves. That forced choice broke the autopilot loop and now you're probably gonna start scanning for stuff like beef sticks or those little nut packs instead of just slamming soda.

Oh man, that autopilot loop thing is so real. I always grab the same junk without even thinking about it, and then wonder why I feel gross halfway through the drive. It's kind of freeing that you're noticing the difference now though.
