My neighbor's comment about his morning coffee made me see my own routine totally differently

I was talking to my neighbor, Frank, yesterday while getting the mail. He mentioned he's started making his coffee in a little French press instead of his old machine, and said, 'It's not about the caffeine anymore, it's the five minutes of quiet before the house wakes up.' That hit me because I've been chugging mine from a travel mug for years, just trying to get going. I realized I've turned my whole morning into a checklist to rush through. So this morning, I actually sat at my kitchen table for ten minutes with a real mug and just looked out the window. It felt weirdly huge. Anyone else have a small change that accidentally made a big difference in how your day starts?

Frank's five minutes of quiet sounds nice, but my morning chaos is what gets me ready for the day. That rush is my brain's version of a warm-up. Sitting still just makes me overthink everything I have to do.

Totally get that! I started putting my phone in another room overnight and the quiet in the morning is a game changer.

You put your phone in another room? I could never do that, I need my alarm right next to me!
