Showerthought: My dog's restlessness tells me when to take a break.

I used to sit for hours without moving. Now, his pacing by the door reminds me to get up and go for a walk.

Ngl i see it the other way around sometimes. My guy gets up because he wants out, not because he's looking out for me. Feels more like we're both just following our own routines that happen to line up. Its nice when it works out but i dont really buy that he's trying to help my health. He just wants to sniff the same bush for the tenth time today.

How do you even train a dog to do that? Mine just stares at me until I move, so I started leaving my walking shoes right by the door as a signal. It took a few weeks, but now he brings me the leash when he sees the shoes (which is his subtle way of saying hurry up). It's less herding and more a weird little chain of events we set up.
