That $3 thrift store bread machine I almost passed up
I kept burning store-bought loaves because I can't judge oven temps by look. Picked up a rusty Sunbeam at Goodwill for $3 and it makes perfect whole wheat every single time. Anybody found a kitchen gadget that saved you more money than a meal out would have cost?

Have you been struggling with whole wheat in your own machine? I feel your pain, I ruined so many dense bricks before I figured out my old thrift store one needed more liquid for whole wheat recipes. It's a real victory when you finally find something that just works without burning a hole in your wallet.

That $3 bread machine is a great find, but I'm curious about the whole wheat part. How many loaves have you gotten out of it so far? I ask because I've found that cheap bread machines can be really hit or miss with dense whole wheat recipes compared to white bread, and I'm wondering if you've had to tweak the flour or water amounts at all. My old machine from a garage sale worked great for white bread but turned whole wheat into a brick, so I'm impressed yours is handling it well.
