The morning I compared my hand-chopped onions to the bagged ones at the store

I was prepping for a shift at the restaurant and ran out of time, so I grabbed a bag of pre-chopped onions from the walk-in. They were watery, uneven, and got mushy in the pan. It took me 10 minutes to chop a batch fresh by hand, and the texture was night and day better. Has anyone else found that those time-saving shortcuts end up costing more in quality?

Frozen onions are just wet disappointment.

Oh man, I swear pre-chopped onions are just sad little water cubes pretending to be vegetables. They turn into mushy nothing the second they hit heat, while fresh ones actually hold their shape and flavor. I'd rather spend those 10 minutes chopping and actually enjoy my meal than save time and eat onion-flavored slop.

Haha okay but like, is it really that serious though? I mean yeah fresh is better but the frozen ones work fine in a pinch for a quick weeknight dinner.
