Took me 45 minutes to figure out my vacuum was set to carpet mode on hardwood floors

I was at my wits end trying to clean up after a big dinner party last Saturday. My Dyson felt like it was pushing dirt around instead of actually picking it up. I kept checking the canister, swapped the brush roll, even shook out the filter on my back porch. After about 45 minutes of frustration and googling, I noticed a tiny slider switch that said "carpet" and "hard floor." It was set to carpet mode the whole time. I flipped it and the thing worked perfectly, picking up every crumb in one pass. Has anyone else wasted a ton of time on something that simple?

Bet you found that switch right after you put the vacuum away in defeat.

Jordanblack is probably right. Most of us find the solution right after we give up and start putting things away. That moment of defeat seems to trigger the obvious answer every single time.
