That 'perfect' deep dish pizza dough recipe ruined my Sunday

Followed my grandma's friend's recipe to the letter last weekend and the crust came out like a saltine cracker, not even a floppy one. Anyone else ever get burned by a supposedly foolproof recipe from a trusted source?

Gotta respectfully disagree here. I've made that exact deep dish recipe from a friend's grandma and it came out golden and buttery with just the right amount of crunch on the bottom. Maybe your oven runs hot or you left it in a few minutes too long? The cornmeal ratio is super important too, too much makes it crumble into salty bits like you said.

Gotta push back a little here. I've tried that exact recipe three times now and every single time it turned out way too salty and crumbly, no matter how careful I was with the cornmeal. Maybe it's just not for everyone's taste buds lol.

whoa wait, you tried it three times? that's dedication. @the_linda said it came out golden for her but i'm with you on the salt thing. i tried a similar cornbread recipe once and had to toss the whole batch because it tasted like a salt lick. i followed the measurements exactly too so i dunno what went wrong. maybe some ovens just don't play nice with that cornmeal ratio.
