Can we talk about how long it took me to get a zipper to sit flat in a dress?
I spent 6 hours ripping out and resewing a hidden zipper on a wool dress, because it kept puckering no matter how I pinned it. Has anyone else hit this wall with tricky fabrics and found a trick that works?

I spent a whole afternoon once trying to get the zipper on a denim jacket to lay flat and finally just gave up and wore it crooked. Sometimes I think sewing is just a game of "close enough" and you move on.

Denim is the worst for that. I tried to fix a pair of jeans once and ended up with one leg shorter than the other by like two inches. Just told everyone it was a new style I was trying out.

I had this whole perfectionist phase where I thought every seam had to be absolutely straight or the whole project was ruined. But after I spent three hours trying to match up a plaid shirt and finally just called it "creative license" I realized you're totally right. "Close enough" is really the secret to actually finishing anything you start sewing.
