My coworker Bob swore pleats would make me look 10 years older

I took his advice and avoided pleats for five years, then a tailor in San Francisco told me I was missing out on a classic look that actually balances proportions really well for my frame. Has anyone else had someone push a fashion rule on you that turned out to be total nonsense?

Oh wow... five years is way too long to let one comment haunt you like that. A tailor pays attention to the little things most people miss, sure, but that doesn't mean every observation is gospel. At the end of the day pleats on pants aren't worth building your whole life around.

Start by asking why Bob's opinion mattered that much in the first place. Five years is a long time to let one coworker's throwaway comment control your wardrobe choices. Pleats or no pleats, it's just pants right?
