My fabric dye ran right before a big show in Austin

I was setting up my booth at the Austin market last month and spilled water on a silk scarf I'd just finished... the blue dye bled into the white pattern. I grabbed some white vinegar from a food vendor and dabbed it on, which stopped the bleed. It left a faint watercolor effect that people actually loved. Has anyone else saved a piece with a kitchen item?

Remember using cornstarch to fix a smudged charcoal drawing in a pinch. Had a piece for a class critique that got wrecked when my bag tipped over. Rubbed the powder in with a paper towel and it basically set the loose charcoal. Looked a little gritty but way better than a gray smear. Sometimes the weird fixes just work.

That vinegar trick is basically accidental tie-dye.

Calling it accidental tie-dye misses the point. The vinegar was a chemical fix to stop the damage, not a creative choice. It was a rescue, not a plan. The happy ending was pure luck, not a technique. Relying on kitchen fixes feels too risky for finished work, especially right before a show.
