My grandmother told me to always line a jacket with silk, and I thought she was just being fancy

After wearing a wool coat I made with polyester lining for one winter, the static was so bad I couldn't get my hair to lay flat. Has anyone else had lining fabric ruin an otherwise good design?

Yeah, polyester lining is basically a static disaster in wool coats.

Buddy of mine got zapped so bad he threw his coat across the room.

Was the coat actually damaged or just thrown across the room out of pure frustration? lol I've had static shocks that made me jump but never enough to launch a whole piece of clothing. Wonder if the lining material or the weather made it worse.
