Trying to get a draped cowl neck to sit right on a jersey dress

Honestly, I thought this would be a quick afternoon project. I wanted a simple jersey dress with a draped cowl neck, but getting the drape to fall naturally without twisting or looking stiff took forever. I must have re-pinned and re-basted the neckline like 15 times. It ended up taking me three whole weekends to finally get it to look right. I was about to just scrap the whole dress. Has anyone else had this much trouble with jersey draping? What's your trick for getting it to behave?

Ugh, jersey is the worst for that lol. I finally started using spray starch on mine before I pin it, which helps a ton.

Spray starch just makes my jersey feel weird and stiff.

Spray starch is a game changer, but @milacraig, you should try a walking foot for jersey.
