Vent: My ethical silk order held up my entire design timeline

I ordered silk from a new supplier that focuses on fair trade practices. They said it would take four weeks, but it ended up being over three months. My whole sample-making process got stuck waiting for that fabric. In the end, I learned to always get materials way before I think I need them.

It's that weird pressure where tight deadlines basically force you to pick the worse option sometimes. You want to do the right thing, but the clock just makes it so much harder.

Does it feel like choosing the better or more ethical option almost always comes with a hidden tax on your time? I've seen this with everything from waiting weeks for a skilled carpenter to fix something, to local farm drops being late. It's like the trade-off for quality or good practice is that you lose all control of the schedule.

That hidden tax on time isn't always true.
