Went to a vintage store in Portland and noticed the seams on every 90s dress
I popped into this shop called Rerun on Hawthorne last weekend and checked out like 20 dresses from the 90s. Every single one had these clean french seams inside, no serging at all. Anyone else notice older clothes had way better finishing than what we get now for $60?

Hold up, I don't think those were french seams you saw. French seams are usually on sheer fabrics and you can see the stitching from the outside. 90s dresses mostly had flat-felled seams or bound seams with bias tape on the inside. Might just be a trick of the light or maybe that shop had a few specific brands.

Miles, @lunaf67 is right about those sheer slip dresses having french seams everywhere, I saw it firsthand.

Hold your horses on that. French seams were definitely on a lot of higher end 90s dresses, especially for lightweight cottons and silks where you couldn't hide raw edges any other way. The stitching showing was the whole point on some of those sheer floral slip dresses. Maybe you just didn't dig deep enough in the racks.
