Galvanized vs. black chain link - I made the switch

I always used galvanized chain link for my fence jobs. Figured it was tougher. Then last spring I did a job for a client in Austin who insisted on black vinyl coated. It cost me about $150 more per roll. But man, it looks so much cleaner and clients actually comment on it. Anyone else have a preference between these two?

Stick with the galvanized underneath even if you go coated... @smith.anna sees the tradeoff right.

...and it got me thinking about how we're all making that same trade-off everywhere now. Not just with fences but with tools, appliances, even furniture. The coated stuff looks nicer but usually costs more and might not last as long. I've noticed people are willing to pay for that clean look even if the raw version is tougher. It's like we're all trying to make our stuff look good for the neighbors instead of just getting the job done.

But isn't buying raw just swapping one kind of hassle for another?
