Got caught in a windstorm while setting posts in Cheyenne last spring.

We had six posts set but not braced yet, and a gust came through that knocked three of them over before we could react. Now I always use temporary cross braces on every single post, even if the forecast looks clear. What's your go-to method for bracing in windy spots?

Yikes, that's rough. I just double up on the temporary braces, no exceptions.

Temporary cross braces are a solid move, honestly. That wind can change in a heartbeat out there. Might be worth adding a stake at the base of each post too, just a simple angled piece driven into the ground and nailed to the post. It's cheap insurance and you can pull them all once the concrete sets.

Don't forget to check the forecast for rain, either.
