Just read that a single mile of split rail fence needs over 2,000 nails

Found it in a trade magazine article about material waste. That number is way higher than I ever guessed, and it makes me think we should all be more careful with our nail counts on estimates. Anyone else had a quote go sideways because of a small part like that?

Man, a buddy of mine lost his shirt on a deck bid because he forgot to factor in all the joist hangers.

Yeah it's wild how the little things add up. I see it everywhere now, like buying a coffee every day seems cheap but it's a car payment by the end of the year. Makes you wonder what else we're all lowballing without even realizing.

Tell me about it, lmao. My first solo bid was for a garden shed. Forgot to count the screws for the roof sheathing. That was a fun conversation with the supplier when my "few boxes" turned into like fifteen. Never felt so dumb holding a receipt.
