Warning: I was setting my post holes way too close for years
Did a job in Springfield last week where the client wanted a 6-foot privacy fence on a slight slope. I put my posts at the usual 8-foot centers, like I always have. The whole thing looked fine until we got a heavy rain two days later. Came back and the middle section was leaning out almost 3 inches. My buddy, who came to help me fix it, just pointed at the ground and said, 'Your holes are too close on this grade, the water's pooling and washing everything out.' He was right. I never adjusted my spacing for the slope. Has anyone else run into this on uneven ground? What spacing do you use?

Wait, @elliot_patel's buddy uses 6 foot centers now? That's crazy tight spacing.

Yeah, the "holes are too close on this grade" thing is real. My buddy had a whole section of fence wash out on a hill because his posts were only 7 feet apart. He swears by 6 foot centers now on any real slope.
